Pre-implant bone reconstruction spans everything from simple guided bone regeneration to complex three-dimensional reconstruction. The challenge is not only mastering the techniques but selecting the right one for each situation. A therapeutic gradient is proposed, from simple horizontal deficiencies through vertical and three-dimensional defects to extreme atrophy, with the indications, limitations and potential complications of each approach.
